Think Canada always acts as a benevolent force internationally? Think again.
Hundreds of thousands of people have died in horrendous circumstances in the DR Congo as our consumer demand for cell phones fuels it’s bloody extractive sector – a sector in which Canadian mining corporations are the major players and benefactors. Join independent journalist, Keith Harmon Snow, who has spent his career filming and investigating western influence in central Africa. In his dynamic, fast-paced presentation, learnwhy and how our corporations are making record profits even as the Congo remains in the middle of the worst humanitarian crisis since WWII.
Afterwards, we will discuss solutions to this crisis and how Canada can reverse the detrimental affect of its mining industry on the DRC.
